European tourism-the current situation --Markets-future projections -- Public-Private Partnerships (PPPS) -- Investment in tourism infrastructure -- Cooperation in Europe -- Focus areas for UNWTO and conclusions.
"The European tourism sector is highly diverse, and so are the opportunities and challenges facing the different countries and regions in the 'old continent'. This regional report, developed jointly by the UNWTO Regional Programme for Europe and the UNWTO Affiliate Members Programme, seeks to contrast the perspectives of UNWTO Member States and Affiliate Members from across Europe on issues affecting tourism in the region ranging from the economic recovery to emerging markets, competitiveness and how best to work to ensure the sector´s long-term growth in the region. The report, which counted on the valuable contribution of 43 European countries and major Affiliate Members, presents a highly valuable and up-to-date regional analysis of the tourism sector throughout Europe. It reflects theirs assessment on key current and short-term trends, market development priorities, public-private cooperation initiatives, investment ambitions in hard and soft infrastructure, modalities for cooperation and the role that UNWTO can play in these collaborative endeavors." -- P. web OMT
